This adventure takes us into the breathtaking northwest region of Tenerife. Our first stop will be at one of the island's premier private vineyards, renowned for producing the highly coveted Viñátigo wines. An experienced guide will lead us through the intricate wine-production process and treat us to tastings of two or three selections that we consider to be true gems of the Canary Islands' wine scene. William Shakespeare frequently referenced Canary wines in works like The Merry Wives of Windsor, while European merchants traveled to Tenerife in the 16th and 17th centuries in search of its exquisite wines.
If desired, we will take a moment to savor some delightful island cuisine before proceeding to a banana plantation. This plantation, nestled by the sea and planted on a volcanic lava flow, rests beneath steep cliffs. Here, we will have the opportunity to learn about banana cultivation and admire the stunning scenery. The original mansion on the estate is a charming sight; now transformed into a tranquil rural hotel, it stands as one of the hidden aristocratic treasures of old Tenerife, and we can enjoy a leisurely stroll through its expansive, palm-filled patio.
