Ronda is among the oldest towns in Spain, tracing its origins back to the Neolithic age, with many remnants of that era still on display.
The town continues to charm visitors, even with the influx of thousands of tourists each year, especially in its ancient district. It is renowned for its breathtaking vistas of the deep gorge known as El Tajo. The iconic 18th-century Puente Nuevo ("New" Bridge) attracts everyone, spanning the dramatic 100-meter drop below.
The promenade winding around the gorge offers stunning views of the Serranía de Ronda mountains. Ronda's captivating history features Roman and Moorish influences, and it was one of the last Moorish strongholds to succumb to the Spanish Conquistadors.
Additionally, the town boasts several remarkable historical sites that draw visitors from across the globe. Among the most significant is the Plaza de Toros, or Bullring.
This particular bullring is the oldest in all of Spain and is where the art of bullfighting originated. Now functioning as a museum, it still holds bullfights during the Ronda festivities.
