Information about Ronda

Ronda is among the oldest towns in Spain, with origins tracing back to the Neolithic era, and many remnants of that time are still visible today.

The town effortlessly preserves its charm, even with the influx of thousands of tourists each year, especially within its historic district. Ronda is renowned for its breathtaking views over the dramatic El Tajo gorge. Visitors flock to the 18th-century Puente Nuevo, the 'New' bridge, which gracefully spans a drop of 100 meters below.

The promenade that winds around the gorge offers spectacular vistas of the Serranía de Ronda mountains. Ronda’s intriguing history is marked by the footprints of Romans and Moors, and it was one of the last Moorish strongholds to succumb to the Spanish Conquistadors.

Additionally, the town boasts numerous remarkable historical landmarks that attract visitors from all corners of the globe. One of the most significant sites in Ronda is the Plaza de Toros, or Bullring.

This particular bullring holds the title of the oldest bullfighting arena in Spain. It is recognized as the birthplace of the art of bullfighting; although it now operates as a museum, it still hosts fights during Ronda's festive celebrations.
