Private Granada excursion and day trips to Ronda

Embark on a full-day private journey from Granada to Ronda as we travel inland. Our first stop will be the unique white Andalusian village of Setenil de Las Bodegas, renowned for its distinctive homes carved into rock overhangs that loom above the Rio Trejo.

Next, we’ll continue to the charming town of Ronda, celebrated for its dramatic river gorge, El Tajo, which can be admired from the breathtaking 18th-century Puente Nuevo (New Bridge).

Afterwards, we’ll explore the highlights of this beautiful town, one of Spain's oldest, with origins tracing back to prehistoric times. A private local guide will take us on a 2-hour walking tour, beginning at Plaza de España, the town square, alongside its stunning church.

Our adventure will conclude at Plaza de Toros Maestranza, one of the oldest bullrings in Spain. Here, you’ll have some free time to discover Ronda, visit the bullring (entry not included), and perhaps savor lunch at a local restaurant (not included) before we make our way back to Granada.

Information about Ronda

The two-hour journey from Granada takes us through captivating countryside, leading us to the extraordinary village of Setenil de Las Bodegas. This unique locale, named for its once-abundant wineries, unfortunately saw these establishments vanish years ago due to an insect infestation.

Setenil stands out as a truly distinctive village, quite unlike the typical white villages found in Andalusia. While most of these charming settlements perch atop mountains and hills, Setenil is ingeniously built into caves nestled within the cliffs along the river Trejo. Its brilliant white houses boldly emerge from the rock, making it one of the most remarkable villages in the region.

Continuing our adventure, we head to Ronda, just a 20-minute ride away. Ronda ranks among the oldest towns in Spain, with origins tracing back to the Neolithic era, and is home to many remnants of that ancient past. Despite the throngs of tourists visiting Ronda each year, particularly its enchanting old town, it retains much of its original charm. The town is renowned for its breathtaking views of the deep gorge, El Tajo, with visitors flocking to the 18th-century Puente Nuevo, or 'New' bridge, which spans a dramatic drop of 100 meters.

The promenade that winds around the gorge offers spectacular vistas of the Serranía de Ronda mountains. Ronda’s captivating history encompasses periods under Roman and Moorish rule, as it was among the last Moorish strongholds to succumb to the Spanish Conquistadors.

Additionally, the town boasts a wealth of impressive historical sites that attract visitors from all corners of the globe. Among Ronda’s most significant landmarks is the Plaza de Toros, or Bullring, noted as the oldest bullfighting arena in all of Spain. This venue, where the art of bullfighting originated, has transitioned into a museum yet still hosts fights during the Ronda festivities.
