Information about Cartagena

Originally established in 223 BC by the Carthaginian general Hasdrubal the Fair, the invading army captured what was then the Iberian settlement of Mastia and renamed it Qart Hadasht.

The town flourished under Roman rule, leading to the construction of an amphitheatre that was rediscovered in the 1980s. During the period of Muslim rule, Cartagena was recognized as the independent emirate of Cartajena, ultimately being reconquered by Spanish Christians in 1242.

The city suffered extensive bombing and damage during the Spanish Civil War and served as the main naval harbor for the Republicans.

Today, Cartagena stands as a vibrant tourist destination.

If you have a larger group, we can provide private Coaches and Minibuses  for all your personal Cartagena day trips or shore excursions.
